The first bell rings at 8.10 a.m. to signal the start of Assembly / Roll Call. The second bell rings at 8.25 a.m. which signals the start of regular class work.
The gate is “locked” at 8.30 a.m. Students who arrive after this time will be housed in a specified area until 9.00 am when they will be allowed to attend their second period class.
The gate will be re-opened at 9.05am. Students who come in after 9.05am will be housed in the specified area until 9.35am when they will be allowed to attend their third period class.
After this time only students who provide a valid written excuse signed by a parent or guardian, will be allowed entry.
A student who is absent from school for any given time (e.g. half a day, a week,) MUST return to school with a written excuse from a parent / guardian. However, a student who is absent for more than a week MUST be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. A medical certificate may be requested.
1. No student will be allowed in the classrooms without permission from a member of staff at the following times:
Before classes begin
During morning break
Lunch time periods
2. Students must not interfere with other students' chairs or desks.
3. All students MUST stay in their assigned Form Rooms. Movement from the Form Room is allowed during class time only if the class has Science, Information Technology, Visual and Performing Arts, Physical Education, Library or Technology Education.
All forms changing classrooms must be done without delay and students must be silent and walk in a line.
4. No student should be outside any classroom without a PASS from a TEACHER during class time.
MARKERS - Students are absolutely forbidden from bringing markers to school.
The school will NOT be liable for the loss of EXPENSIVE SCHOOL BAGS.
1. Parents are asked to provide students with all recommended books and materials which are not provided by the Ministry of Education, at the times required.
2. Borrowing or lending of books is forbidden. Only books related to the course of study are to be brought on the school premises.
3. Students MUST bring TEXTBOOKS to school each day as stated by the class TIME-TABLE.
4. Books should always be clean, neat and tidy.
The stairs leading to and from the Staff room, from the ground floor to the first floor, are for Teachers only.
Evacuation – 5 bells will be rung in succession:
1. Students are to proceed quickly off the school compound.
2. Use the nearest exits, stairs, gate.
3. Assemble at Muster Points.
4. Line up according to class.
Every student in Forms 1-3 must attend Religious Instruction of his or her Faith Group or the Home Room Class once a week.
Any student who is NOT in the designated classroom as recorded on the timetable will be considered BREAKING THE CLASS.
This is a serious offence. Form Teachers will inform Parents and document incidences of class cutting in the student’s records for further reference (Ministry of Education). Suspensions and counseling will follow if the problem persists.
Visitors (parents, guardians, etc.) must present a picture ID to Security to be permitted on the school compound.
Students will not be allowed on the school compound if they are not dressed in full uniform, unless by special arrangement.
The school pass is a part of the uniform and therefore, it must be worn on a chain, (provided by the school) around the neck at all times.
1. Be respectful and obedient to the Principal, Vice Principal, Form Teachers, Subject Teachers, Safety Officers, Prefects and all other persons on the compound in the position of authority.
2. Always address persons in authority as “Sir” or “Miss” or “Mrs.” whichever is relevant.
3. Exercise good manners at all times: “Good morning, Sir”, Good afternoon Miss”, “Thank you”, etc.
4. Avoid interrupting conversations or passing between persons who are engaged in conversation. If you must, then say “Excuse me, please” and wait to be given permission.
5. Always say “sorry” when you have accidentally made an error, caused embarrassment or done wrong.
6. Adopt a proper posture when speaking, sitting or walking.
7. Always be polite and clear in expressing yourself.
8. Be considerate, kind and courteous to your colleagues.
9. Always give way to ladies on entering or leaving a classroom, bus, taxi, etc.
10. Always carry yourself in an honourable and respectful manner.
