Form 5 Exam
Dr. Eric Williams - The first Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago. August 31, 1962-March 29, 1981
On Thursday 10th November 2022, St. Joseph Secondary celebrated 50 years with an Ecunemical Service held at St. Cecelia's Chapel, Maracas, St. Joseph.
St. Joseph Secondary School was originally established in September 1972 and was then known as the Curepe Junior Secondary School (CJSS). It was one of the first schools opened for the pilot Junior Secondary programme. Mr. Andrew Pardarat Roopsingh was appointed the first Principal of the school at that time and he oversaw a student population increase from 640 to 1,060 students in three (3) years. The school programme ran for three (3) years and operated on a two shifts system – am shift and pm shift. Since then we have changed two principals and produced upstanding citizens who have contributed positively to society.
In September 2008, Curepe Junior Secondary was de-shifted and converted. The name was then changed to St. Joseph Secondary which now operates under the leadership of our new Principal Mr. Wazir Mustapha.
Welcome to the St. Joseph Secondary School family on its website – the brainchild of the Information Technology Task Force. This work in progress is being updated almost daily. The online Form One Registration form being a nod in the direction in which the world is headed-virtual education.
Alumni of this school are found in every career path imaginable: from Academics to Medicine; from Law to the Food Industry. Many have left our shores to make their mark in the world. Some are even giving back to the school as members of the current teaching staff.
As the school approaches its 50th Anniversary in 2022, one may reflect on the transitions from the 3-year shift system of Curepe Junior Secondary (1972 – 2008) to the whole day 5-year system of St. Joseph Secondary (2008 – present); the move from physical to virtual teaching in 2020 and the much-anticipated move to the new school premises – much work is needed in this last venture however.
So, we invite you to take a tour of our website showcasing our Sporting achievements, Cultural events and School landmarks with pictures to remind us all of the way we were. As our School anthem epitomizes:
“The Will Does It for one and all
St. Joseph Sec. will always stand tall.”
Thank You,
Mr. Wazir Mustapha
